Garden as of 11 June 06

| Here is the "front lawn" as viewed from the front porch. The concrete walk is made from 18"x18" concrete casts alternating hummingbirds and squirrels. The walk is lined by red/black tinged pavers. When the landscaping is finished, this will be entire lawn. There will be a 10' strip between the new forest and the front beds. | |
| The concrete/paver walk becomes a stone/paver walk as it goes around the curve. The fence is the edge of the existing garden (the hills/rhodoendron). The astilbes mark the start of the new plantings. | |
| Here are the astilbes. Will list the cultivars here later. May mix in some low hostas or other low-growing shade plants. In the future will throw in a few impatiens here & there. | |
| Going left to right, the astilbes are replaced with hostas. The plan calls for a cultivar called "Patriot". May substitute with other low white/green bright hostas. The stakes behind the hostas will be oak-leaf hydrangeas from Mississippi. The ones I brought up before have done real well, and are covered with sprays this year. | |
| Again, moving right, the oak-leafs are replaced with viburnums. This is the Juddi cultivar, which is supposed to be very fragrant in bloom. I've got two; need three more. The use of the viburnums is supposed to bring the forest into the yard. |
