Clock-Cutting the Fretwork

We'll wrap up the hole cutting on the Cottage Clock's crest with one of the more complex holes.  Over the next few pages I'll show this cut.  The techniques we've already discussed in previous pages, so the commentary will be more sparse.

We'll start at the entry hole (obviously :-)!) and cut to the side.  I wasn't too happy with where I drilled the hole; I usually like to start at a point to keep it sharp.  Anyway, cut to the side, and down to a corner.

I was going to cut back to the sharp point, but decided that while I'm here I'll go ahead and cut the short side.

On the way back I had to flip the saw on/off a couple of times to get the blade through the kerf.  This is easy to do with the footswitch; just be careful to not have any pressure on the good side.  If the blade happens to bite in, you want it to mess up the waste piece!

Finishing sweeping side, I stop right at the point and cut a relief hole to turn the blade.

Then cut the rest of the point down to the next corner.

We'll finish up this hole on the next page.
