In the last post you may have seen a green smudge up next to the “Tuliptree Crafts”. That’s actually a “tm”, for trademark. According to my lawyer that is a good way to protect myself and keep somebody from stealing the name out from under me. You can spend a couple of thousand dollars and [...]

Doing business in Indiana
June 2nd, 2009 · No Comments
We talked with the lawyer this week, and he’s going to get us set up to do business in Indiana. Not too much trouble: Tuliptree Crafts LLC will get registered in Indiana as a foreign company, we’ll get a BT-1 certificate, and then we’re good to go. The downside is we have to renew the [...]

Getting in stores
May 29th, 2009 · No Comments
We’re now in our third store. The latest, “Rita Caz” in Yellow Springs Ohio, joins “K.C. Paws” and “Sisters Exchange”. Both of those are in Pendleton, Indiana. We’ve been spending the last couple of days getting ready for set-up in Rita Caz, along with doing some custom orders for both KC Paws and Sisters.
Tomorrow we [...]

K.C. Paws
April 15th, 2009 · 1 Comment
We’re going to be in a new store in the Pendleton Indiana area: K.C. Paws “All things Cats & Dogs”. Initially we’ll probably just have the dog puzzles there, but hope to add cat puzzles as we make/get patterns.
KC Paws is at 104 W. State Street (Downdtown) Indiana.

Castors and Boxes
March 24th, 2009 · 1 Comment
Got the castors ordered for the last pair of tables today. I’m using the 8″ pnuematic castors from Harbor Freight. There’s a 10″ set as well, but more $$’s. They work well; the question is how well will they keep air.
I’ve also going to make an attempt at shrink-wrapping the puzzles. This would make it [...]

Death and Life in the Marketplace

Stimulating the Economy
March 2nd, 2009 · 1 Comment
No, this isn’t a post about a bill full of pork–this is *real* economic stimulus !
I’m down to just the curly and the wide boards in sassafras, and I’ve got several orders to do. Instead of piecemeal ordering, I went ahead and ordered 500 bdft of S2S 4/4 sassafras. (S2S is surfaced-two-sides; This wood [...]

Missouri Dog Show Tax
February 11th, 2009 · No Comments
No, not a tax on dog shows, but sales tax for what I sell . I called up the Missouri Tax office and got them to send me their Form 2360, which is the Special Events Sales Tax Report. For some reason the form is not available on their web site. According to the [...]

2008 Results
December 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments
I’ve finished the shows for 2008, and have sent all the individual orders. Now it’s time to start analyzing the results. Starting with the Popcorn Festival I’ve been keeping track of which animal puzzles have sold. This gives me an idea of which are the more popular (so I keep them in stock!). This is [...]
