I put together a couple of sets of the new star earrings. These were cut from bacote, a rather expensive but striking exotic from Central America. Although it runs around $14/bdft, the earrings really don’t use that much so I thought I’d go ahead and try it.
The star on top is a regular star with [...]

Railroad Themed Lamp
July 14th, 2009 · 5 Comments
We signed up for the Xenia Arts and Rail Festival for next month. It’s not expensive, and we did pretty well last year there, despite not having anything railroad themed. On the applicaton is an option for power. I haven’t been using the cash register lately–it’s been slow enough we really don’t need it, and [...]

An Angelfish Pattern
July 1st, 2009 · No Comments
I was visiting one of the shops that sell our products, Rita Caz in Yellow Springs, Ohio. A suggestion they had was to do fish, specifically angelfish. So I drew up the pattern below. Instead of cramming all of “ANGELFISH” in a short fish, I just put “ANGEL”. I almost put in “ANGLE”, but caught [...]

Sifu, the Dragon
June 7th, 2009 · No Comments
I did manage to get a picture of the oriental dragon SIFU tonight. Here he is sitting on the EX-21. This picture is of the raw dragon. He has since gone swimming in the BLO.

A new, Oriental, Dragon
June 7th, 2009 · No Comments
At the Canton Fea Market there was a lady that liked the dragon. However, she wanted an oriental dragon, as is was to be a gift for a Kung Fu instructor. It took a while, and a lot of looking at dragons on the internet, but here is the first draft of a pattern. I [...]

Bearded Collie Dog “Lid”
May 21st, 2009 · 1 Comment
This is normally a lid for a 6″x6″ dog box. However, at the Grand Rapids Agility Club show a lady asked for just the lid. She liked it with the stained glass behind. So, I grabbed a piece of blue stained glass (I could write off the sales tax right then according to the form). [...]

Scottie Pot Ornament
April 20th, 2009 · No Comments
Amongst other stuff today I wipped up a quick Scottie pot ornament pattern and cut out 6 of them. Not much, but it does give something else to sell this coming weekend. Here is what he looks like:
Since it’s a pretty easy pattern too make, I went ahead and published a pattern here. If you’re [...]

New Woven Box
March 30th, 2009 · No Comments
I finally whipped out the new style woven box. This one has solid sides, with a flat interior. It’s also a bit quicker to make, since the cutting of the side weave is simpler (the inside is just a straight line) and the corners are cut on the table saw. Here is a cocker spaniel [...]

Latest Dog Box
March 9th, 2009 · No Comments
I’m now catching up on the dog boxes that were ordered. These are still on the learning curve, and I like to think each one is a little better than the last. I’ve put up a couple of pictures of the doberman box, made from sassafras and walnut. I modified the assembly yet again: The [...]

A “Mantle” Clock
February 7th, 2009 · No Comments
Since I’m not sure what the proper term is, I’m using “Mantle Clock” for now.
In the ongoing quest for new things to put dogs on, I revisited an old idea I had last year: Making a relatively simple clock with the ability to customize the dial. This time I actually got it cut [...]
