Bielefeld Hole Tutorial

December 11th, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve finished a first cut of the tutorial on cutting a tabbed hole on the Bielefeld clock.  A link to it is here; I’ll also put a link on the right side when I figure out the best way to handle it; however, the link above should stay correct.  Any opinions are solicited :-).

Bielefeld Hole Tutorial

December 4th, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve started on the tutorial for the tabbed hole on Pedro’s Bielefeld Clock. I’ll eventually put a link on the right hand side, but you can see the work in progress at this link here.  If you have any comments, feel free to send them. I’ll try to update you as I add to it; [...]

Bielefeld Fence

December 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Like I mentioned before, I was cutting out some pieces for the Bielefeld Clock at this past weekend’s “Holly Days” (Fairbrook Elementary School in Beavercreek, OH). These were some pieces of fencing on the second story of the clock. Like most fence-type pieces, there is a lot of repetition of the same basic pattern. [...]

Misc stuff

December 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Today was paperwork day. Had to take inventory for year-end close-out (There may be a few other things, but shouldn’t change much).
Got the notice that my patterns from www.finescrollsaw.com are at the post office.  They had to come the day nobody was at the house :-(. Oh well, hopefully I can get them monday or [...]

Fairbrook “Holly Days” show

November 29th, 2007 · No Comments

The trailer is all packed up for this weekend’s show. This is a friday night, saturday mid-day show, so it shouldn’t be a high-stress on the body. I’ve got around 300 bookmarks to sell, so I shouldn’t run out. I also have a fair number of butterfly magnets and ornaments (more about that [...]

The Next Piece preperation

November 27th, 2007 · No Comments

Sometimes the hardest task is not the scrollsaw work, but preparing the blank. The next piece of the Bielefeld Clock is the front “gateway” of the main level. The problem is this is a single piece just slightly too wide to resaw on the tablesaw. I searched the plan, but didn’t find anything else the [...]

Latest “Bielefeld Clock” part

November 25th, 2007 · No Comments

As long-time folks here may know, Pedro over at www.finescrollsaw.com has offered me his “Bielefeld Clock” pattern so I can cut & comment on it here at the Scrollsaw Blog. My marriage to a wonderful lady has kept my cutting down this year, to the point I’ve been scrambling just to have some items to [...]

Artistry in Wood 2007 observations

November 13th, 2007 · No Comments

This year’s show seemed to be better attended than last year’s. The 3″ rain on sunday cut down the numbers, but those there were buying. I didn’t sell as much, but that was mainly because of lack of stock.  I didn’t have any of the small clocks, which bring in about $40-50 each. I did [...]

Take the EX-21 to the show?

October 25th, 2007 · No Comments

On my last trip to Mississippi I took the deWalt. Well, it just happened to be stored in the trailer when I brought it down :-). Anyway, I cut the two red oak wolves down there as part of a test of the air dried “katrina” wood, and decided to just leave it [...]

More Blades A’Coming

August 8th, 2007 · No Comments

While working on the next part of the Bielefeld Clock I decided the #5 Pegas I’ve been using is a little too coarse. I didn’t have any #1’s left, and my stash of #5’s is also getting slim, so I sent off another order.  The Pegas “modified geometry” blades last pretty long, so I haven’t [...]
