We survived the latest “Great Snow of 2010″, and are preparing for the next “Great Snow of 2010″ due later tonight. We were able to get Jen down to Southern Seminary and back with no problems; now she just needs to get to Anderson University tomorrow in the middle of the snow.
We’ve got another pair of cat-n-mouse clocks started. The cat part is done, and I’m fixing to cut out the mouse pendulums. I still need to prepare stock for the background though. It’s 1/2″ wood, and I don’t keep that around. One is cherry and the other mahogany, so I need to find some rough boards I can use. No big deal, just need to be efficient in their use, especially the $10/bdft mahogany!
I grabbed another pair of sassafras boards, one for animal puzzles and the other for the bases. I’m still cutting one-each of the puzzles for timing. There have been a few surprises; some puzzles that look complicated to cut actually cut out rather fast, and others you’d expect to fly take longer. The goal is to be accurate, and exclude unexpected things from the timing. For instance, a blade change is rather rare during the cutting: A blade can last 10+ puzzles. Therefor, if I’m changing a blade I’ll stop the timer.
