I did do a test a while back, but this is the first time I’ve used the pocket hole jig on a “real” project. In this case, a short/resaw lumber rack on wheels. Normally this would be a nailgun project–Just get the thing together quick, don’t worry about how it looks. But I figured this would be a good test project, using cheap materials and no worries about how it will work.
I pre-drilled the holes using the jig–which I didn’t think to get a picture of. Below is a picture after screwing in the final screw of the third shelf. The clamp is designed to keep the two boards flush, while the screw is designed for pocket hole joinery. This screw came from Kreg (through Amazon); I used some from McFeelys to join the 2x lumber.

This is the finished frame. The frame (1 of 4 to be made) is laying on its side with the top towards you. There will be 4 shelves for holding resaw boards. With 4 shelves I can sort them out better. The finished rack will be 4′ long; I have a lot of 4′ rough-cut shorts which will be stored in the bottom of the rack. The weight here should also keep the entire rack more stable, as it will be sitting on some 5″ solid casters from Harbor Freight. More pictures as we go along…
