Garden Box Side

April 4th, 2010 · 5 Comments

I mentioned a few posts ago that I’d finished one set of long-sides of the Garden Box from www.finescrollsaw.com.  The white balance stinks, but here is a picture of the side.  I’ve started the second set of long sides; if I went straight to the top there would be a good chance I’d never get [...]

Hummingbird Trellis Clock

February 24th, 2010 · No Comments

I was able to prop up the clock and get a few pictures for the website. Here is the clock:
The clock is solid cherry, with a printed dial. I have done some with a maple face and walnut trellis; the pendulum would have the hummingbird and flower in maple, with the rest in walnut.
Here is [...]

Hummingbird Clocks

February 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

I did get one of the hummingbird clocks finished today, and the other is only lacking a movement. Like the Cat-Mouse clocks I used a printed dial for these.  One is the “fancy Arabic with Ivy” dial, the other is a fancy Arabic with a hummingbird illustration. Both are made from the cherry I purchased [...]

Beaded Tray Video

January 15th, 2010 · No Comments

I noticed that Scrollsaw Workshop has the video for the beaded tray on their site.  A link to the page is here. Jenny liked the video, and it is neat to see something you made in a professionally done video.
The only thing I’d do differently would be to use a tool to press the pin [...]

Happy 2010!

January 1st, 2010 · No Comments

We spent the new year down in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico. Nice little border town without the violence issues as some of the other towns in this area. They did have a shoot out a few weeks ago, when one of the drug lords was chased into the area–that single shooting caused a big stir, which should [...]

Shih-tzu Dog Box

November 12th, 2009 · No Comments

After a couple of months I finally got the Shih-tzu box put together.  Here it is, freshly oiled.  There’s a green piece of glass back in Ohio that will go in the background. This is a picture of an actual dog, who’s now 16-1/2.  He’s slowed down a bit, but still having a happy life.
These [...]

Box Sides

November 5th, 2009 · No Comments

The other thing I worked on today was putting together sides for the woven boxes.  This is the next boring part of the boxes: taking 12 side pieces and making them into the 4 sides.  I use Arlenes and cyanoacrylate to glue them together.  They’ll then go to the belt sander to get the back [...]

2nd Street Market–after a long while

September 26th, 2009 · No Comments

I finally made it back to 2nd Street Market today.  I had intended to go there once a month, but haven’t been able to fit it in since March.  It was moderately successful, and I took an order for a couple of animal puzzles as well.  Both puzzles are finished, except for the oil curing [...]

Another Misc Post

September 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

We’re splitting time between moving household goods and cutting animal puzzles.  I’ve got 2nd Street Market this weekend; first time since April!  I meant to go about once per month, but haven’t been able to fit things in.  I do have one item to deliver then, and I’d really like to get a Shih-Tzu dog [...]
