Lightning, that is. We drove back up to Pendleton last night, and got to Indiana just in time for the light show. The lightning was totally unrealistic, with bolts stretching across the sky and lasting up to 4 seconds. Had some Night-into-day bolts, and several where the the lightning slowly progressed along it’s path, kind [...]

Bearded Collie Dog “Lid”
May 21st, 2009 · 1 Comment
This is normally a lid for a 6″x6″ dog box. However, at the Grand Rapids Agility Club show a lady asked for just the lid. She liked it with the stained glass behind. So, I grabbed a piece of blue stained glass (I could write off the sales tax right then according to the form). [...]

Scottie Pot Ornament
April 20th, 2009 · No Comments
Amongst other stuff today I wipped up a quick Scottie pot ornament pattern and cut out 6 of them. Not much, but it does give something else to sell this coming weekend. Here is what he looks like:
Since it’s a pretty easy pattern too make, I went ahead and published a pattern here. If you’re [...]

Scottie Jewelry
April 19th, 2009 · No Comments
We’re still cranking out Scottie jewelry. We put together another 8 sets of earrings, and started on some necklace/barrettes. No pictures this post, but we’re “standardizing” on 3 crystals for the earrings. The scotties for the necklace or barrettes (they use the same scottie) have a single clear rhinestone for the eye and 6 colored [...]

Scottie Earings
April 15th, 2009 · 1 Comment
I finally got some pictures of the Scottie Earings. They’re not the best; I was in a hurry and didn’t wait for the motion to stop. Anyway here is a picture of most of the earings:
And a closeup of a pair of Scottie Head earrings:

Twelve Scotties
April 8th, 2009 · No Comments
Just a quick post here. I’ve got an order for 12 Scotties for awards at a Scottie show down in Texas. These have a trapezoidal base so you can put a metal plate on them. Here they are; 8 are assembled, 4 more are cut and waiting for a base. I’ve since got bases on [...]

Dog Jewelry
April 6th, 2009 · 4 Comments
Today we spent pretty much the whole day experimenting with dog jewelry. Got a Scottie show coming up, you know . Anyway, lest start off with the 2″ Scottie. We got some of the clear 1.8mm rhinestones, and used a cyanoacrylate glue to attach them to the walnut. The stones look nice, but I [...]

Scottie Earing
April 5th, 2009 · No Comments
After today’s Scottie puzzle marathon (I had an order for 12 puzzles), I whipped out these Scottie earings. Why sassafras? Why not walnut? Well, I had some butterflies being cut, so there was a ready-made stack of 1/8″ wood. Just plop the pattern in the waste, cut with a #1 blade, and instant Scotties!
The dog [...]

Scottie Barrette
April 2nd, 2009 · No Comments
Since we were going by Sisters in Pendleton (where I have a few items for sale), I quickly put together the barrette parts I had cut out the night before. Of course I got the barrette upside down! (I don’t actually where them ). Didn’t find it out until the lady at Sisters tried [...]

A Little Scottie
March 25th, 2009 · No Comments
I’ve been planning on doing this for a while, but being so simple it keeps getting put off. Finally, I resawed some 3/16″ walnut and grabbed one of the pieces and made some blanks. This is a simple scottie outline; I’ll be putting magnets on the back and will be selling them in the $5 [...]
