I finally got pictures taken of the Mask Pen Holder from Finescrollsaw.com. I’ve put it on the “Reviews” page listed in the left column (as of this writing). You can also go directly to the review at this link here. It’s a .pdf file with links to larger pictures.

Commerce Site Started
April 23rd, 2008 · 2 Comments
I’ve started to put some items in the commerce site, mainly to start playing with it and see what it can/can’t do. If you’d like to see it, here’s a link to it here. You can see some of the animal puzzles, along with the Mask Pen Holder and Victorian clock. Very little works (reviews, etc), [...]

Another shot of the “Mask Pen Holder”
April 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Looking back, I noticed I never put up a picture of the finished Mask Pen Holder. In case you haven’t been following, this is a pattern drawn by Pedro at www.finescrollsaw.com. It’s one of his “simpler” plans; assuming you have some sawing experience, you should be able to cut it out in a [...]

Masked Pen Holder Dunked and Finished
April 10th, 2008 · No Comments
The Mask Pen Holder I mentioned yesterday has been dunked in the BLO and is currently sitting on the bed-of-nails. I plan on writing a review of the project. Bottom line: Make sure you’re bottom plate isn’t warped, other than that a nice, easy, good-looking project!

Mask Pen Holder revisited
April 9th, 2008 · No Comments
The last time I showed this piece (designed by Pedro over at finescrollsaw.com) I had cut out a bloodwood bottom. It looked great; however, the bloodwood proceeded to warp horribly. The wood is strong, and there wasnt enough strength in the canarywood to keep it flat. I shelved the pen holders. Recently I was resawing [...]

Mask Pen Holder–Full Dry Fit
March 5th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Well, both of the mask pen holders are cut out, and all the tabs have been trimmed to fit. Here are some pictures of the dry fit of both of them. There’s no finish on either; this is the raw wood. The bloodwood bottoms need some polishing, but the canarywood fronts/backs are finish-sanded. The ends [...]

Mask Pen Holder–partial dry fit
March 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Below are a couple of pictures of a partial dry fit of the Mask Pen Holder. It took a bit of cutting-to-fit on the tabs, as the pattern calls for 3/16″ wood and I’m using a little bit thicker wood for the canarywood parts. The bloodwood is 3/16″ thick. Next I need [...]

Mask Pen Holder–the first cuts
March 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
This is the Mask Pen Holder, a plan from finescrollsaw.com. This is what I took to the craft show yesterday for demo cuts (in other words, something to do while nobody’s around ). The bottom board is the front, and was cut yesterday. This evening I’ve cut the holes on the back piece (on [...]

Next pattern?
February 27th, 2008 · No Comments
Now that the English Armies Clock is done (well, except for putting together the second one), I’m looking at which pattern to do next. I’ve still got the Bielefeld clock pattern to work on, but that is a more long-term project. What looks like a “easy”, quick pattern is the Mask Pen Holder. [...]
