I just turned in a couple of custom orders to The Sister Exchange today, and discussed the custom orders. Most of the revenue from them has been custom orders, and they get a lot of interest in that. Since they are going from a booth-based store to consignment, I’m planning on placing several examples of [...]

Off-Day

I took a breather today. About the only thing I cut out was a personalized centerpiece tray. I want to deliver it to Sisters on monday, so I had to get it cut. It’s done, but the oil needs to cure.
I did drop by Lowes today, and was going to pick up a gallon of [...]

Customized Horse
October 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I got another order from “The Sister Exchange” this afternoon, this one for a horse customized to a little girl’s name. Basically, I take the horse pattern, erase all the interior lines, then sketch in the letters. I try to take advantage of the gross characteristics if possible. For example, the girl’s name begins with [...]

Custom German Shepherd
September 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Jenny dropped off the batch of custom work at The Sister Exchange, and the reception was warm. The lady there really like the ARABIAN horseshoe (see previous posts), and thought we should have some more there to sell. Also, she had someone come in who wanted a German Shepherd personalized to “Sam”. [...]

Custom Letter Puzzles
August 31st, 2008 · No Comments
In between Church services today I was able to cut out the two personalized puzzles, the “SEAN” and the Sean Vizsla dog. The Vizsla is the same pattern as I posted yesterday. There wasn’t any real problems, and it cut out nicely. I haven’t had a chance to cut out the VIZSLA pattern (the non-personalized [...]

Custom Work at Pendleton

I got an unexpected phone call from The Sister Exchange today. They had two custom orders for me. The first was for a variation of the horseshoe pot ornament. The lady wanted a larger version, with “Arabians” for the text. This was for her young daughter to sit on the shelf. The second was for [...]

Pendleton Horseshoes Finished
August 28th, 2008 · No Comments
I finished up the two types of Pendleton horseshoes tonight. Below is a picture of all of them. On the ones with beads I did two different combinations: one set has both green and clear beads (the Pendleton colors are green and white), the other two simply have the green beads.
Here is a close-up of [...]

Pendleton Horshoe
August 25th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Like I mentioned in the last post, Pendleton has a thing for horses. The Sister Exchange asked about a horseshoe, so after about an hour of cursing Corel I was able to draw a pattern. The cursing came about through Corel’s method of placing text in a curved object. I’m not sure how I did [...]

Booth #27 at The Sister Exchange

Jenny set up the spot at the shop in Pendleton today. She said the folks there were pretty positive about the things we brought. They helped Jen set things up as well, and had some ideas for some future products. Here is the spot. Jenny made up a bio for me, which is sitting in [...]

The Sister Exchange
August 24th, 2008 · No Comments
We’ve decided to try out a spot in “The Sister Exchange“, in Pendleton Indiana. We ended up with a bigger spot than originally talked about, and it runs a little more at $40 a month + 10% commission. This means we have $240 committed towards this. That’s about two shows’ cost, so that’s not too [...]
