Snow Pictures of Old

February 16th, 2010 · No Comments

Well, at least back around 10 Feb 10, which was a storm or two ago!

This is the blue spruce at the corner of the garage.  A circular polarizer gives you a very nice blue sky. This also works well when you want a good, saturated picture for a puzzle (to add a little scrollsaw to [...]

Back Again

February 15th, 2010 · No Comments

This was an interesting trip.  We went down to Southern Seminary sunday in order to beat the snowstorm.  We got there ok, but this morning Southern decided to cancel classes.  So we ended up traveling back through the 4-8″ of snow that ended up being at least 10″.  We were mostly on the interstate, so [...]

Butterflies in the Frost

February 13th, 2010 · 1 Comment

I’ve got a few of the plant ornaments sitting around outside, seeing how well they hold up in real life. Below is a mahogany butterfly that lost its wing, making it a perfect candidate for testing. During the ice fog it collected quite a bit of frost on the wings.
The wood itself is actually holding [...]

Ice Fog

February 13th, 2010 · No Comments

We had a rather dense ice fog yesterday–couldn’t hardly see more than 100′ in front as we took Jenny to the vampire shop. However, once the fog lifted, the trees and just about everything else was coated with a heavy layer of frost.  Jenny took several pictures of the trees around the house; the one [...]

Snow, Round #2

February 8th, 2010 · No Comments

We survived the latest “Great Snow of 2010″, and are preparing for the next “Great Snow of 2010″ due later tonight.  We were able to get Jen down to Southern Seminary and back with no problems; now she just needs to get to Anderson University tomorrow in the middle of the snow.
We’ve got another pair [...]

Kenai Snowcat

February 6th, 2010 · 1 Comment

The snowstorm is over; about 6″ landed on the driveway.  Kenai Dawn on the Mountain, our youngest Maine Coon, hadn’t yet had the pleasure of being “thrown” (dropped actually ) into the snow.  So this morning we took him out and let him experience his “heritage” (Maine coons are supposed to be working cats [...]

Snowstorm, Day 1

February 5th, 2010 · No Comments

We survived Day #1 of the latest, greatest snowstorm. So far, there’s about 4″ on the ground.  Jenny and I went for a short walk around, with Jen taking several pictures.  Here is one of her favourites:

Oh my gosh, it’s SNOW!

February 5th, 2010 · No Comments

The latest “Big Snow Storm” is starting.  We had to get a few things at the grocery (milk/flour) before the roads got trashed, but it looks like it’s not going to be as bad as they’re making it out to be. The Indianapolis NWS office is maintaining a blog of the storm. They did have [...]

Snow in Bogue Chitto

December 8th, 2009 · No Comments

The snowstorm that hit Houston, TX, also came through Bogue Chitto.  Though I wasn’t down there for the festivities, my parents were able to get a few pictures.  We got a few flakes in Indiana and Ohio from the next storm system.  Not as much snow as in the South, but a lot more wrecks! [...]

Blizzard of 2008

March 7th, 2008 · No Comments

They just upgraded the winter storm warning to a blizzard warning here. We got the afternoon off, so I made it back to the house before it got really bad. They’re claiming it will end up 12-15″ with drifts up to 4′ with 40mph winds. We’ll see. I don’t have to go [...]
