Angel Jewelry

January 25th, 2010 · No Comments

Here’s my first foray into 3-D earrings.  The angel is a 3-D cut, while the rest is straight flat work.  This is just a prototype with whatever scrap is on hand. I like most of it, but thing the halo is a little clunky.  It’s out-of-round, but that’s because I was to lazy to draw [...]

Italy Earrings

December 16th, 2009 · No Comments

In between some order-filling I managed to draw and cut some Italy beads. The finished product, featuring the Italian flag colors, are modeled by Jenny:
I snuck in the pattern in between some butterfly wings I was cutting.  Normally I’ll put the bead pattern next to the edge so I can drill the pin entry hole [...]

1/2″ Dog Earrings

September 20th, 2009 · No Comments

I put together the poodle and fox terrier earrings tonight.  These were the ones that the lady requesting them wanted smaller earrings.  These beads are about as small as practical, at least for me. I think they turned out OK–Jenny wore them to church tonight, and said they wore fine.
Since the lady ordered two, I [...]

Dog Beads

September 18th, 2009 · 1 Comment

At the dog show today I had a lady request some poodle and fox terrier earrings.  However, the ones I’ve been cutting were too big for her (”I’m too short for those” ). So when I did the pattern for the poodle and terrier I reduced the height from 3/4″ to 1/2″.  They were [...]

Happy Moon Day

July 20th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Today, in between hearing about the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, I did mostly paperwork.  I updated the hanging lamp and added another side that has a Beaver on it for Beavercreek. The German Shepherd lamp sides got cut and painted; I plan on assembling and painting the frame tomorrow.
The big thing today was [...]

Bacote Star Earrings

July 19th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I put together a couple of sets of the new star earrings.  These were cut from bacote, a rather expensive but striking exotic from Central America. Although it runs around $14/bdft, the earrings really don’t use that much so I thought I’d go ahead and try it.
The star on top is a regular star with [...]

Scottie Earrings

April 21st, 2009 · No Comments

Today it was “all about Scotties”. I made a pair of Scottie boxes (still on the oil rack, so no pictures tonight), and lots of Scottie beads. I also took some pictures of the already-made Scottie earrings for the commerce site. Here’s a couple of them. As you can see in the close-ups, [...]

Scottie Jewelry

April 19th, 2009 · No Comments

We’re still cranking out Scottie jewelry.  We put together another 8 sets of earrings, and started on some necklace/barrettes.  No pictures this post, but we’re “standardizing” on 3 crystals for the earrings.  The scotties for the necklace or barrettes (they use the same scottie) have a single clear rhinestone for the eye and 6 colored [...]

Scottie Earings

April 15th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I finally got some pictures of the Scottie Earings.  They’re not the best; I was in a hurry and didn’t wait for the motion to stop. Anyway here is a picture of most of the earings:
And a closeup of a pair of Scottie Head earrings:

Dog Jewelry

April 6th, 2009 · 4 Comments

Today we spent pretty much the whole day experimenting with dog jewelry.  Got a Scottie show coming up, you know .  Anyway, lest start off with the 2″ Scottie.  We got some of the clear 1.8mm rhinestones, and used a cyanoacrylate glue to attach them to the walnut.  The stones look nice, but I [...]
